Archer Rocks

In 1978 a chance meeting between Canadian guitarist Martin Smith and Seattle keyboard player Doug Buell resulted in an invitation to “come on over & jam.” Along with various high-school friends those sessions resulted in the formation of “Mainline”, a local cover-band. The addition of Dave Sims on guitar rounded out the core of that early line-up, and they honed their showmanship skills playing every “free-event-in-the-park” they could find. 1979 brought to the band a new rhythm-section with Brian Elslip on Bass & Mark Hedstrom on Drums, a new Booking Agency, new Management, and a new name; “Archer” was born.

The 5 members became life-long friends, and went on to play every venue the Pacific NW had to offer in the 80’s. Their music was all about singing, and their 4-part harmonies honored the band’s heroes like Styx, Journey, & Boston. Through a series of adventures, crisis’, and successes, the band is still playing, writing, recording, & releasing Brand New Classic Rock more than 35 years later. Just like 1979, Archer Rocks!
